Our Impact
21 year old pregnant Maria (not her real name) received a message on her phone wishing her a good night. The husband was the first to see the text mesage and quickly confronted her and asked why anyone would be wishing her a good night. He kicked and slapped her until she started bleeding and lost her baby.
The husband then fled the home and went to a nearby bar to drink himself silly. He warned that he never wanted to find her at the house again.

The MORE team took me to counselling sessions and gave me accommodation for the night after leaving hospital).
I cant thank them enough. My Vegetable business is doing well, I can afford rent and my basic needs.
No one will take advantage of me ever again because I am now empowered.

Testimonials
Voices from the Community
“I am only able to feed my children because of the seed capital of 100,000 Shillings that I received from MORE. Now I have 4 chicken and one pig which will soon deliver more.”
“Had MORE not provided me the emergency support I needed, I would be dead by now, I was completely terrified as my partner chased me through our village with a panga in the middle of the night”
"Please keep teaching us the things that you do so that our community can be safe and peaceful. Men and women should be able to co-exist peacefully"
"The ideas and interventions that MORE uses are so novel. No NGO has ever invested in the effects of violence and social norms like you have done. The safe space that you provide is greatly needed and appreciated in this region"
"I carried 10 pregnancies but have only 3 children. This moved me into action because no mother should have to miscarry or have a still birth when help can be available"
"An ambulance and ultra sound scan are life savers for a pregnant mother and baby"
